What a prospect goes through at sign-up, and where their onboarding answers end up.
Most prospects join your platform on their own, from your website. Knowing the steps they take helps you read the Prospects page, set up Toasts that make sense, and explain the process to colleagues.
🧭 The prospect's journey
- A visitor lands on a page of your website carrying the Tribe Iframe, a Toast or the Carousel.
- They browse ambassador profiles and click Chat with [name].
- They're asked to sign up: first name, last name, email, and your onboarding questions.
- They choose whether to receive marketing from your institution.
- They confirm their email with a code sent to their inbox and land in the chat with the ambassador they chose.
From then on they sign in with an email code, or with Google or Apple if that account uses the same email.
❓ Onboarding questions
Onboarding questions are the short set a prospect answers at sign-up — typically expected start date, area of interest and country. They do three things:
- Fill the columns on the Prospects page, so you can see at a glance who's interested in what.
- Feed Analytics — the Expected start date chart is one example: each question gets its own chart on the Engagement tab.
- Travel to your CRM, if one is connected, as fields on the lead.
The questions themselves are configured by Tribe for your platform. To change them, contact your Account Manager.
Onboarding questions are asked of prospects. Profile questions (area of study, nationality and so on) are answered by ambassadors and are what Toasts, filtered Iframes and the Carousel filter on. The two sets are separate.
Marketing consent
The Marketing column on the Prospects page shows each prospect's choice. Prospects who said No stay on the platform and can chat normally, but they are not sent to your CRM.
Invited prospects
A prospect you invite by email, or who uses your general invite link, goes through the same sign-up and answers the same questions. See Inviting Users.
