Where your conversations live: reading, replying, archiving, and how you're told when someone messages you.
Everything you do as an ambassador happens in your inbox. A prospective student picks you from the list, writes a first message, and it lands here. Open it from Chats in the navigation; a red dot means something's waiting for you.
📬 Reading and replying
Conversations are listed newest first, with the last message under each name. A red dot marks one you haven't read yet.
Tap a conversation to open it. Type in Type a message… and send. That's it — no formatting to worry about, no formal sign-off needed. Short messages, sent quickly, work better than long ones sent later.

🔔 Notifications
You'll never have to remember to check. When a prospective student messages you:
- On the app — a push notification straight away, like a text.
- By email — a message if you haven't read it after a few minutes, and a reminder if it's still unread after a day.
Opening the conversation marks it read and stops the reminders. If you're not getting push notifications on your phone, see Not Getting Notifications.
🙋 When your university admin joins in
Sometimes a prospective student asks something only staff can answer — entry requirements, fees, a deadline. Your university admin can see every conversation and may post a reply directly into yours. It shows with their name and job title, so both you and the student can tell it's from staff.
That's not a mark against you. It's exactly what should happen when a question is outside what a student can answer. If you spot one of those questions first, you can say so and let them know you'll flag it: "Good question — that one's for admissions, I'll make sure someone from the team replies here."
🗂 Archiving
When a conversation has run its course, archive it to keep your inbox tidy:
- Open the conversation.
- Tap ⋯ and choose Archive chat.
It moves to Archived. If the student writes again, it comes straight back to your active list, so you'll never miss a reply.

Your archive and your university admin's are kept in sync — if either of you archives a conversation, it's archived for both. Archiving old, silent conversations also keeps your average response time honest: a student who stopped replying months ago shouldn't count against you.
🚫 Blocking
If someone makes you uncomfortable, asks for personal details, or tries to move the conversation off Tribe, open ⋯ in the conversation and choose Block user. They can't message you again, and your university admin is told. There's more on this in Staying Safe on Tribe.
✅ You're set
Reply when the notification comes, archive when a chat is done, and block anyone who crosses a line. Everything else is just being yourself.
